Using government positions to enrich one’s self is not only unethical, but illegal. And without oversight, corruption and fraud will run amok in our society. Therefore it is imperative for the Public Officials to be held responsible and accountable by the Public. Government officials are responsible to the public, so when they misuse their power to help enrich themselves and provide friends with special favors, they are not only to be asked questions, but need to face the consequences. [BREAKING NEWS] Edo 2020: The incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki Disqualified by APC Screening Committee. The All Progressive Congress (APC) screening committee has disqualified the governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and two others from participating in the Edo Governorship election. Court sacks Inter-party Council’s National Chairman, Peter Ameh   By Eric Ikhilae, Abuja A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo has declared as illegal the continued occupation of the office of the Chairman of the Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC) by Chief Peter Ameh. In a judgment on Monday, Justice Binta Mohammed held that Ameh could no longer remain in office as IPAC Chairman, because his political party, Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) was one of the 74 parties recently de-registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The judgement was in a suit by National Unity Party (NUP) with which it challenged the decision by the 18 political parties (that were left as member of IPAC after the de-registration of the 74 parties) to appoint an interim Chairman. The NUP had prayed the court to declare that the interim management committee put in place by the 18 political parties, was not validly elected, therefore, cannot run the affairs of IPA

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has raised the alarm about the possibility of having an “acrimonious” governorship election in Edo and Ondo states, urging security operatives in the country to be proactive in nipping it in the bud.  INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu gave the charge on Friday in Abuja during the first virtual meeting of the Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security ICCES. Yakubu also advocated a supplementary code of conduct for all security operatives participating in the conduct of elections in a Covid-19 Pandemic era.
