TIME FOR YORUBA NATION TO MOVE ON!

~  Ifedayo Iyaniwura

Since the marriage called almagamation between the Three Regional groups in Nigeria as failed, it is high time Yoruba Region backed out from the unholy marriage without further delay.

Late Obafemi Awolowo

Before Nigeria Independence in 1960, the British Officials had displayed with impunity favouritism towards the North, hence the need to hand over power to the Northerners.

Late Tafawa Balewa

Meanwhile, the threat of secession started by the Northerners, which northern delegates to the constitutional conferences held before 1960 had repeatedly used to get more concessions from colonial officials who usually responded as if Nigeria was created by the British for the North.

Benjamin Nnamdi Azikwe

As Yorubas, the Offsprings of Oduduwa, to know where we are heading to, we need to know where we are heading from. This is the time to bury procrastination, and right the wrong of the past.

Awo, Zik, and Balewa

Clearly the emergence of Sir Tafawa Balewa as the Prime Minister indicated that Nigeria entered Independence on a dismal footing, and this is due to the inability of both Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe of the East, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo of the West to stop Sir Robertson's intention of handling over Power to the North.

The effect of the then power handed over to the North at the expense of the Southerners is what gave birth to the security threat of today, occasioned by the Northern Terrorist, Bandits, Bokoharamist, Fulani herdsmen and now ISIS. The reality of nonchalant of our then leaders has now dawn on all of us.

The Two aforementioned leaders of the Eastern region and the Western region respectively have no excuse for their failure to thwart the Northernisation Agenda of the British Officials before their exit.

Aside of the fact that, Tafawa Balewa did not possess relevant exposure and requisite intellectual mobility to govern a sophisticated nation as a Prime Minister, based on secular constitutional democracy, the motto for his Political Party, NPC was "One North" "One People," with no single elected member from the south in the House-of-representatives. Yet this never served as an eye opener for our then leaders to know that the so called almagamation will never work. High time to right the wrong!

This message is for the good people of Yoruba Land. Time for the Yoruba Nation to move on without further delay is now.

 Let there be Oduduwa Republic!!!

Court sacks Inter-party Council’s National Chairman, Peter Ameh

Court sacks Inter-party Council’s National Chairman, Peter Ameh   By Eric Ikhilae, Abuja A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo has declared as illegal the continued occupation of the office of the Chairman of the Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC) by Chief Peter Ameh. In a judgment on Monday, Justice Binta Mohammed held that Ameh could no longer remain in office as IPAC Chairman, because his political party, Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) was one of the 74 parties recently de-registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The judgement was in a suit by National Unity Party (NUP) with which it challenged the decision by the 18 political parties (that were left as member of IPAC after the de-registration of the 74 parties) to appoint an interim Chairman. The NUP had prayed the court to declare that the interim management committee put in place by the 18 political parties, was not validly elected, therefore, cannot run the affairs of...
